Non-commissioned historical and biographical essays published on this site are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-ND 4.0). This permits reproduction and distribution of the work in its original, unmodified form for any purpose, including commercially, provided Denise J. Choppin and A Life Reflected are credited as the author and source. The work may not be adapted or modified without permission.

This licence covers the author's original text only. It does not affect the copyright status of primary source materials quoted within the work — including historical documents, newspaper extracts, and third-party photographs — which remain subject to their own terms. Readers wishing to reproduce such materials should satisfy themselves as to the rights status of those sources independently.

Work commissioned by clients is governed by a separate client services agreement and operates under entirely different terms. Upon full payment, copyright in a commissioned work is assigned to the client, who owns it outright with no ongoing fees, royalties, or restrictions on use. The author retains authorship and the right to be credited. Commissioned work is not subject to the site's general Creative Commons licence.
